Assam gets pilot project of methanol stoves

Assam Petrochemicals has launched a pilot project which uses methanol as fuel. The company which manufactures methanol and formalin from natural gas as feedstock. The pilot project supported by NITI Aayog is looking forward to replace methanol with LPG as cooking fuel.

As per the project, 500 people were given a stove with two 1.2-litre canisters of methanol. If successful, the move will reduce India’s oil imports and tap into pollution-free methanol as fuel for cooking and transportation.
