Assam government to build ropeway from Kamakhya temple to Railway station

Assam government is planning to build a ropeway from Kamakhya temple to Kamakhya railway station in Assam. The popular temple is a major attraciton in Guwahati and a ropeway will be a major boost to the state tourism. As of June 2024, the state government has entrusted the project to National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) to execute the ambitious ropeway project.

The tentative length of the proposed ropeway project is 1.430 km, and the estimated cost of the project is Rs 141.94 crore.

The project is likely to go operational by end of 2026. It will be built on Hybrid Annuity Mode on a design, build, operate, and transfer (DBOT Annuity or Hybrid Annuity) basis. It may be noted that, NHLML is a 100 percent subsidiary and SPV (special purpose vehicle) of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
